Building Up Small Businesses: It’s Personal

Small business owners across the country dedicate their time and energy to building up their businesses every day—not to mention the sizable monetary investment. Behind every small business is a passion, a dream or a skill and the local community that supports it. That homegrown customer base is often the difference between building a successful small business and struggling to make ends meet.

Every day at Townsquare Interactive, we work as a team to help our small business clients succeed. From our SEO analysts to the content writers, web designers to social media producers, quality assurance specialists to digital marketing specialists, we come together to create a personalized campaign and produce a finished product designed to help you get found online, attract customers and grow your business.

Our recent partnership with Charlotte Center City is a great example of how we consistently strive to elevate small businesses—this time, right on our home turf in Uptown Charlotte.

Helping small businesses make a big impact

Because we work with small businesses across the country—from Portland, Maine to Oakland, California—we don’t always get to see the effects of our marketing campaigns in person. Working with Charlotte Center City, however, allowed us to see firsthand the impact we can have on small businesses and their communities.

When Vica Bondurant, Director of Marketing for Charlotte Center City, came to us for help with their holiday events, we put together a website for the Novant Health Thanksgiving Day Parade in five days. That allowed Charlotte Center City to quickly raise awareness for their event, and our audience extension package gave them the platform to make over 700,000 impressions in only two-and-a-half weeks. All of that contributed to the massive crowd that gathered for the parade on November 23.

Why are small businesses important to your community?

“We’re able to work with businesses across the country, so we don’t always get to see these clients’ businesses really come to life,” says Allison Haines, Senior Onboarding Specialist with Townsquare Interactive. “So being able to work with a business within Charlotte, within our own building, is not only rewarding, but fun. We get to see their reactions to what we create for them, but also create a cornerstone for their overall brand and their business online.”

Our ultimate goal is to help our small business clients succeed in their communities. It’s not just about creating websites or writing content—it’s about creating a small piece of their business online. We focus on the personal experience and connecting with people. We love seeing how helping their small businesses succeed trickles down to positively impact their personal lives.

“When you spend money at a small business in your community, you’re helping your neighbors, you’re helping people who go to school with you, who go to houses of faith with you,” says Steven Cole, Director of Communications at Charlotte Center City. “So you’re really investing in your community, and going to small businesses is what makes them unique, cool and funky places—something you won’t get in big retail stores.”
